Of the Hill

Of the Hill is about Te Ahumairangi hill where the photographer lives in Pōneke/Wellington, and hills beyond. It’s a work about the power and presence of the land, rocks and plant life we live on and with. Mary’s images take the familiar sights of neighbourhoods and road trips and shapes them into an emotional and psychological response to place.

A hand-bound limited edition photobook featuring the full series is available, $55. Edition of 50 copies, signed and numbered. This is available from Bad News Books, and we will have a few copies available for sale in the gallery.

Mary Macpherson has exhibited at Photospace Gallery since 2014.

'Of the Hill' is showing along with Andrew Ross' exhibition 'People and Places' from 12 November 2022 to 28 January 2023. The gallery will be closed from 22 December to 8 January inclusive, but I will be around. Regular gallery hours are Mon-Fri 10am-3pm, Saturday 11am-2pm, closed Sundays and public holidays.
We are on the first floor, up one gentle, straight flight of stairs with twin handrails, but we regret there is no lift and no wheelchair access to the gallery.
