'East to West' performance by Dave Edwards, 7.30pm Thursday 3rd March at Photospace Gallery16/2/2016 New Zealand Fringe Festival - East to West... an epic audiovisual journey half way around the world. Koha entry.
The show will be a big OE epic of video & music from the Tasman to the Atlantic, a decade in the making. It takes the audience on a journey half way around the world from New Zealand, across Australia, via a dozen countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Russia, Albania, Portugal and more, with a live soundtrack to evoke each country… it’ll be a culmination of the travelling and field recording / world music direction taken over the past decade. Dave's 2005 Fringe show Ascension Band won best music award, as did the 2006 Lines of Flight show in Dunedin that he was part of. Collaborations include The Winter, Gamelan Taniwha Jaya, Dave Black & Snake Beings, Wellington's Most Famous Orchestra of Miraculous Delights, and The Electrickazoo... but this one's a solo show. Peter Black's 'Black Box' - a set of 15 A3-sized prints in a handmade box, edition limited to 3 sets. The 15 colour photographs in this boxed portfolio set are carefully selected key images from various bodies of work. Together, photographs offer a strong sense of Peter Black's oeuvre, touching on many of the recurrent themes and concerns in his work. The photographs are printed on A3-size Hannemuhle Photo Rag Pearl paper with archival pigment inks. The extra crispness of the Pearl finish makes the photographs look extremely good at this size, placing them among the finest prints I've seen of Peter's images, or of any colour photographs for that matter. The edition of this portfolio is limited to 3, and the first set is available now for $NZ8,000.00.
