Mary Macpherson’s Waterlilies in Painted Pond vintage print is featured in the Slight Arrangements exhibition at the entrance to Nga Toi Arts at Te Papa. The photographic show, which is curated by Lissa Mitchell, looks at the way flowers have been used in fine art photography and features significant New Zealand and international photographers.
Mary’s much reproduced Waterlilies photograph is part of a series called Lower Hutt: Two Public Places that explored aspects of the city council gardens and areas of vacant public land. The series, which was commissioned by the Dowse Art Museum, is in their collection and a smaller selection is in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade collection. Photospace Gallery has a fine contemporary archival inkjet print of the Waterlilies image in stock. Also check out Mary’s latest series of work Bent which is opening this Friday 21 Feb at 5pm, along with Gary Freemantle’s Mud and Velvet paintings, and street photography by Hans Weston.
