Façades is a body of work focused on the multifaceted self we all hold, maintain and cultivate – an assemblage of façades which promote an external idea while hiding internal trial.
Shadows, obscured views, and low light speak to secreted character and defeat, and suburban anonymity.
The images draw on personal experience, building on a previous introspective body of work, to interpret self through a life’s circumstances – buried under a fallow garden, hemmed by a fence, held in contempt by loose ends.
I hope also to create space for the viewer to relate and consider their own nurtured façades.
