'Partial Loss: exercises in reduction' - Cathy Tuato'o Ross & Ellen Smith, Photospace Gallery 4th-28th November 2016
'Currents', a video installation by Essi Airisniemi, explores how we place ourselves into and connect with the changing landscape. Navigating between image and reality, the installation uses perceptual approaches to shift personal observations of the surroundings towards a new temporal and spatial experience.
Review on EyeContact, by Peter F. Ireland
Liesel Carnie's photographic research project focuses on a significant issue facing future generations. Highlighting the need for knowledge and information, ‘Pseudo’ delves into the problematic consequences of intensive farming. In particular, the work considers waterways in the greater Wellington region and the bacteria which are discharged into them from agriculture. With the use of microscopic photography, ‘Pseudo’ uses a strategy of visualising the data of scientific sampling to create a photographic representation of environmental disruption.
