Lisa Clunie
'Diagram of Forces'
Photospace Gallery,
23rd May-21st June 2014

Artist statement

I like to think of how almost everything on this planet was once formed at the heart of a star. Similar to the elasticity of time experienced in a daydream, the photograph allows us to still time just enough to catch a glimpse of these celestial origins and otherwise hidden forces at play. A burgeoning quince pulled toward the earth reminds us of the force of gravity. We pause and may become aware of our own various temporalities. We find constellations in our freckles and can consider our place in the Universe.
